One of the big fancies in The Kentucky Derby betting, The Pamplemouse, has been ruled out of the race after injuring a tendon.

The Pamplemouse had already won both his prep races for Churchill Downs and was set to start favorite for the Santa Anita Derby before the leg injury struck.

Julio Canani, The Pamplemouse's trainer, is likely to give the stable star at least half a year off to fully recover from the setback.
