Square Eddie, runner-up in the Breeders Cup Juvenile, will race again on January 17 in preparation for his tilt at the 2009 Kentucky Derby.

Much-improved since he left UK trainer John Best, Square Eddie has proved a bargain-buy for his new American connections. Best must have been entertaining angels unawares, as USA trainer Doug O'Neill has transformed Square Eddie from, at best, a Grade 3 performer to a star of the world stage.

Winner of the Grade 1 Lanes End Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland before his Breeders Cup runner-up placing, Square Eddie next runs in the San Rafael Stakes at Santa Anita.

O'Neill reckons Square Eddie has improved again and is working fantastically.
