Quality Road's long-running battle against quarter-crack injury has finally seen the talented colt ruled out of The Kentucky Derby.

Winner of The Florida derby, Quality Road was unable to take part in his final major workout before Saturday's big race.

Trainer Jimmy Jerkins said: "The horse could not be trained. He is lame. I am feeling sick about it."

Jerkins was quick to point out that the winner of three of his four races would have other opportunities to show his mettle.
