Prado counting on poetry in Motion |
|
Edgar Prado was in the fortunate position of having to choose between three of the fancies in the Kentucky Derby betting for the big race on May 3. Prado landed Kentucky Derby trials on both Monba (won the Blue Grass Stakes) and also Tale of Ekati (won the Wood Memorial Stakes beating the fancied War Pass). But Edgar Prado has dismissed them both in favor of Adriano, who is handled by top trainer Graham Motion. Prado's decision may be a bit of a surprise to some, not least the handlers of the two horses he turned down. After all Monba and Tale of Ekati both won at the highest level while Adriano's success was just a Grade 2 event (Turfway Park's Lanes End Stakes). Trainer Todd Pletcher's Monba will now be ridden by Ramon Dominguez. Tale Of Ekati, trained by Barclay Tagg, has yet to be linked with a big race jockey. |
